It looks like "Parks & Recreation" is going for authenticity when Leslie and Ben head to Washington, DC. Adam Scott talked about the season premiere's senatorial guest stars on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." He and Amy Poehler got the chance to hang out with John McCain, Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe, who all make appearances in the premiere.
"You realize that they’re senators, so they’re used to just walking around and bullsh*tting, so they’re really good actors," Scott said of their guests. "And they were really charming, lovely people."
McCain spoke to The New York Times when the episode was filmed in July, saying that "Parks & Recreation" was one of his favorite shows, making the decision very easy.
In that same article, series creator Mike Schur said, "This may feel so special we’ll have to use it as the season premiere." It looks like that's exactly what happened.
Look for the senators when "Parks & Recreation" returns to NBC, Thursday, September 20 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
